The EnergyNet Team

EnergyNet’s overarching mission is to connect public sector stakeholders in emerging markets with credible international investors and power developers to increase access to electricity through the development of both on and off grid power projects. Our team spend over 220 days a year travelling to meet stakeholders across Africa and Latin America, so relationships and investor insights are both our business and our passion.

Our meetings

We have been producing investment forums and executive dialogues for the power sectors of emerging markets for the last 23 years - in Europe, the USA, China and across the African continent. We work with 23 different governments and national utilities to facilitate investment summits where international investors can build relationships with credible public sector stakeholders to advance access to power.

Best known for the Africa Energy Forum, the longest running meeting place for senior level decision makers in Africa’s power sector taking place in Europe each year, EnergyNet also produces a host of in-country investment meetings in Africa and Latin America which provide a more detailed perspective on the investment landscape and power generation potential of specific countries and regions.

Projects and initiatives

Over the last few years EnergyNet has developed a number of projects which highlight the importance of energy in Africa and Latin America and serve as a reminder of the human impact of access to energy.

These projects include the EnergyNet Student Engagement Initiative (ESEI), designed to promote human capital development and job creation across Africa’s power and energy infrastructure sectors. The programme supports academically gifted students in Africa studying Law, Engineering and Finance, flying them to our conferences to meet with African ministers of energy and network with industry professionals.

The Arts Energy Partnership showcases the relationship between energy access and creative potential in emerging markets. As part of the initiative we launched the ‘Energy Photo of the Year’ award, calling for submissions of inspiring images which reflect the impact of energy access. The Arts Partnership also sees artists’ work featured in our annual publication the Africa Energy Yearbook, with occasional visual art or photography exhibitions taking place at our meetings.

Responsible Conferencing

Most recently, EnergyNet launched the Off the Grid Club - a membership programme utilising our relationships and network to fast track deals between credible off grid technology providers, micro finance institutions and community leaders across the world in areas desperate for access to energy. This programme enables members to get their product to market much quicker and with credible partners. Find out more
