Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S (BWSC) is an engineering and contracting company. We are project-oriented, specialising in the development, design, construction and operation of turnkey power plants and energy systems with ambitious goals within biomass-to-energy, waste-to-energy and hybrid solutions worldwide. We deliver operation, maintenance and service of power plants.
The majority of the projects are supplied as turnkey plants, and BWSC has delivered more than 180 power plants to 54 countries with a total capacity of more than 4,100 MW. Most recently, BWSC has constructed power plants in Mali and Benin. Currently, BWSC has on-going activities worldwide, including the UK, Japan, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Benin, Mali, Bermuda and India.
BWSC originates from the stationary engine division of Burmeister & Wain (B&W), which has built and installed diesel engines since 1904. BWSC was established as a separate specialist company in 1980 and was acquired by Japanese Mitsui E&S Holdings Co., Ltd. in 1990. In 2019, BWSC had a turnover of EURm 216, and the order backlog amounted to EURm 912 at end-2019.
