H.E Hon. Bachir Ismael Ouedraogo
Minister of Energy, Burkina Faso
Born in 1979 in Boulsa, Burkina Faso, Dr. Bachir Ismaël Ouedraogo holds a PhD in Renewable Energy Economics and Climate Change from the University of Manchester in England. He is an expert in renewable energy economics, sustainable development, climate change risks and policies with solid academic experience in economics and social policy finance. It capitalizes on ten years of experience in energy and housing, optimization of renewable energy production systems and the impact of climate change on future energy consumption. Energy modeling, design and optimization of hybrid energy systems based on current value. Simulation of energy consumption in buildings with different thermo-physical and climatic conditions. Professor researcher in England and then at the International Institute of Environment and Water (2iE) in Burkina Faso, he is since January 2015 Coordinator of the project to support entrepreneurship in renewable energies of ECOWAS. In November of the same year he was elected to the National Assembly of Burkina Faso where he held the position of Third Parliamentary Secretary until January 31, 2018, date of his appointment as Minister of Energy. He is the author of a dozen scientific publications in the field of renewable energies and sustainable development.
